BTSE has obtained an in-principle VASP registration with the Bhutan GFSO in Gelephu Mindfulness City for a Financial Services License covering virtual asset trading and custody — extending BTSE's regulated footprint into a new jurisdiction.

Subject to satisfying final regulatory conditions, the license will authorize BTSE Bhutan to:

  • Operate a multilateral trading facility for the exchange of virtual assets.

  • Provide institutional-grade custody for the safeguarding and storage of virtual assets.

The dual authorization positions BTSE Bhutan as a regulated venue for both active trading and secure asset holding within GMC — Bhutan's purpose-built Special Administrative Region focused on sustainable, long-term economic development.

BTSE Bhutan also plans to build an on-the-ground team, including local hires, to support its operations in the region.
